On October 20, 2024, the Mandarin Center at National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) organized a special visit for 14 Muslim students from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kenya to Kaohsiung Mosque. The visit, led by International Director Ms. Hou Hsiao-yi, aimed to help students feel more at home in Taiwan while respecting their faith and culture.

Kaohsiung Mosque serves as an important place for the Muslim community in southern Taiwan. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to engage in prayers and experience a religious environment similar to their own. Imam Ma Xiaoqi welcomed the group and shared the history of the mosque, explaining the differences between the number of mosques in Taiwan and those in other countries. This insight helped the students better understand the Muslim experience in Taiwan.

This visit was specially arranged to address the Muslim students' religious needs and provide them with a sense of belonging and support during their time in Taiwan. The school hopes that such cultural exchanges will help them adapt more easily to life here.

After the visit, the students enjoyed delicious Halal food that met Halal standards. This meal not only satisfied their dietary requirements but also brought back a taste of home, making them feel more comfortable and welcomed.
